Galaxy British Book Awards
The Galaxy British Book Awards is a televised event each spring which attracts a wider audience to books.
The awards started in 1990 and have been won by almost every famous author in the UK Literary firmament. They are broadcast by Channel 4 on prime time and have reached audiences of several million, by far the biggest reach of any Arts Awards show outside of Film.
The Awards cover 10 categories ranging from Biography to Children’s and Literary to Popular Fiction and also includes the ‘Richard & Judy Best Read’ Award which is tied to a 10-week strand on their 5pm C4 show. The Richard & Judy Book Club has been one of the most successful and influential book promotions ever devised with sales worth of over £45million from the selected titles over 4 years.
The Awards are governed by the Academy of the British Book Industry and are linked to the British Book Industry Awards which reward individuals and companies behind the scenes of the publishing and bookselling industries.
Agile marketing have helped develop the awards over the last 4 years by partnering with TV Production company Cactus TV and Channel 4. We have also secured retailing category sponsors for individual awards and an overall headline sponsor (the Galaxy brand from Masterfoods UK Ltd) from 2007.
Agile marketing founder; Alastair Giles, is a key member of the Academy board, the British Book Awards Executive team and the British Book Awards industry steering group which advises the brand holder; Publishing News Ltd. He is also the key industry advisor to Cactus TV and helps select the titles included in their book club.
