The brand new series of Bookaboo kicked off on Saturday 21st February with a simultaneous launch on ITV1 and the CITV Channel at 7.25am. The top-rating CITV show is back by popular demand, and this time viewers will be tuning in to see Bookaboo on his first International Tour – in Canada!

The new series launched with special Canadian guest star Jason Priestley, best known for his roles in US TV series Call me Fitz and Beverly Hills 90210. Jason joined Bookaboo to read Warduff and the Corncob Caper by Mat Head, published by Andersen Press.

The super-star Rock Puppy will be joined by a special guests each week, both native Canadians and UK visitors also on tour! The guests will read Bookaboo a story before he goes on stage, so he’s ready to play to his fans. In this series, lucky UK guests to be granted back stage access to Bookaboo’s rock concert include BRIT-Award-winning singer songwriter Kate Nash and comedian and TV Presenter Dave Gorman.

Aimed at 3-6 year olds, series three of Bookaboo is a co-production between Bookaboo creator Lucy Goodman’s Happy Films and Canada’s Cite Amerique. As well as launching on ITV this month it will also air on CBC in Canada. 16 of the selected picture book titles featured in the series are from UK publishers. The remaining 12 books are Canadian, adding an international flavour to the show.

Bookaboo’s message about the importance of sharing the reading experience has proved popular with both children and adults. Last year, Bookaboo won the British Animation Award for Best Mixed Media series, which follows previous awards including two BAFTAs, a Broadcast Award and the 2010 Prix Jeunesse.

Thanks to the generosity of contributing publishers, 1000 books are donated every episode to disadvantaged children.
